Bridgeman is proud to represent the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, which holds a prolific permanent collection of art from around the world.
A walk down the street from the beautiful Atlanta Botantical Garden to Atlanta's art district will lead you to the the High Museum of Art, the leading art museum in the southeastern United States. The museum's galleries are lined with a collection that spans from ancient and contempory African art to modern and contemporary art from around the world and so much more. The High is also distinguished as the first general museum in North America to have a full-time curator devoted to folk and self-taught art.
Founded in 1905, the High has become the leading world art museum in the Southeastern United States, as well as the 95th world art museum in the world. The vast building known today as the High Museum of art was completed in 1983 and was designed by architect Richard Meier (who went on to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize).
The culturally diverse collection at the museum span across multiple timelines and locations, covering world cultures from ancient to modern times. These collections include more than 15,000 artworks across seven collecting areas: African Art, American Art, decorative arts and design, European art, folk and self-taught art, modern and contemporary art, and photography. The High also puts emphasis on collecting works from Southern self-taught artists.
