Business Development Manager (m/f/d)


Bridgeman Images, the prestigious international fine art & photo archive specialising in licensing fine art, cultural and historical images and footage is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development manager to join the Berlin Sales team. 


The company’s Berlin office is in the heart of Schöneberg. The company represents over 2000 museums, galleries, artists, photographers and archives worldwide and its clients include consumer, trade and educational publishers, TV and Film Studios, design and product companies, plus commercial and digital agencies. Its office provides a pleasant work environment with a small team of dynamic and dedicated co-workers.


Job description :

As part of the Sales Team focused on the D/A/CH region, the main objective of this role is to proactively bring in new customers and leads as well as optimise revenue with existing customers. The D/A/CH team has a team target (rather than individual targets) so the candidate we look for should be a team player.


As an international company, you will report directly to our Sales Director based in France and work closely with our various departments based outside of Germany when it applies.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Significantly increase the number of viable and active prospects by reaching set objectives.

  • Identify new business opportunities with significant long-term potential.

  • Interact directly with customers and prospects through sales presentations, meetings, telephone appointments, teleconferences and customer meetings at trade shows or other events related to the company's business.

  • Effectively drives prospect research and building activity for the various sectors for the D/A/CH region.

  • Can track and achieve performance metrics by which the role will be measured (e.g., call/email activity, response rates, leads generated, lead quality).

  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the business development plan.

  • Proposing and closing deals (images and footage sales).

  • Report regularly to management on the actions taken & achievements.

  • Work closely with the marketing team on targeted campaigns to generate new leads.

  • Deliver high quality work in a timely and professional manner whilst actively participating in a team environment.

The tasks are not exhaustive and may evolve with the needs of the company.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the licensing industry with a proven experience ideally across all media business verticals and with a clear understanding and hands-on experience particularly in TV & Film, Advertising, Corporate, Design and Display sectors in Germany.  

  • Meeting or exceeding monthly new business KPIs and targets in a sales environment, and driving new/existing customer leads through cold approaches, coordinated outreach or marketing campaigns. 

  • Knowledge of how to bring in a lead and how/when to ‘hand it over’ to internal sales.

  • Providing insight into your pipeline leading to accurate forecasts.

  • Developing a strong understanding of the value proposition for our products and services as it relates to your end market.

  • Ability to best align business goals with market requirements using a data-sales approach. 

  • Strong understanding on how to prioritise workload to get best return on time-investment.

  • Comfortable working with a CRM.

  • Appropriate software and hardware skills with proficiency in excel.

  • Excellent communication skills in German (native) and English, including ability to tailor communication to sector audiences to achieve desired results.

  • A self-starter who can manage the execution of a repeatable process for sales prospecting, email outreach, and outbound calling.
