A Chinese visitor takes note on the biography of People's Liberation Army soldier Li Xiangqun, who died aged 20 while fighting floods along Yangtze river last year, during an exhibition in Beijing August 4. Widespread flooding along the upper and middle reaches of China's Yangtze river has left almost 1.8 million homeless and hundreds dead, the Red Cross said on Wednesday. The floods have thus far failed to reach the scale of last year, when the Yangtze and major rivers in northeastern China broke their banks and killed more than 4,100 people. They left millions homeless in the worst flooding in four decades.
