Mina Caroline Ginger (1875-1933) wife of Abraham Van Winkle, was a crusading social worker, suffragist and police lieutenant. As President of the Women's Political Union of New Jersey, campaigned for a constitutional woman suffrage amendment, staging attention-getting media events. In 1915 suffragists in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania passed round the Torch of Liberty, Mina van Winkle receiving it on the Hudson River.
