A H Padgham. Alfred Harry Padgham a week before his thirtieth birthday crowned a comparatively short career by winning the Open Championship. International since 1932, his best season was 1936 when, after winning three major tournaments within three months, his success in the Open Championship confirmed him as Britain's leading professional. Born Caterham (Surrey), is now co-professional at Sundridge Park. A deadly putter and possessor of an easy swing which is typified in this picture of him playing an iron club shot. Illustration for Photocard issued by Ardath Tobacco in c.1936.
