Boxing, Benny Lynch v Small Montana. Small Montana, the Filipino and America's claimant for world flyweight title, lost his bid to Benny Lynch, 23 years old Glasgow lad. Here Lynch has cleverly avoided Montana's left lead by ducking. Lynch won the title originally from Jackie Brown, though the New York State Commission claimed Montana as champion, and his defeat of Montana at Wembley cleared the air, made him king of the flyweights and further revealed him as the best since the days of Jimmy Wilde. Illustration for Photocard issued by Ardath Tobacco in c.1936.
