PIUS LUSTRILANANG SPEAKS AT HUMAN RIGHT COMMISSION IN JAKARTA, 1998-04-26 (photo)

Indonesian anti-government student activist Pius Lustrilanang, speaking at the Human Rights Commission in Jakarta April 27, said he had been seized by unidentified men in early February and held in a small, dark jail-like room until he was released on April 12. Pius said he had been grabbed before a March meeting of Indonesia's top constitutional body which elected President Suharto to a seventh five-year term in office. Pius added that he had been held with six other activists, all of whom were also released. Human rights groups have expressed concern over the fate of several other activists who are still missing after expressing opposition to the government. REUTERS
