Born in 1925 in Chitoor, Andhra Pradesh, India, Reddy earned his fine arts diploma from Vishwa-Bharati University in Santiniketan, West Bengal, where he formed mentorships with Nandalal Bose and Ramkinkar Baij. After moving to London in 1949 and receiving a certificate in fine arts from the Slade School of Arts, he studied sculpture in Paris with Ossip Zadkine at the Academie Grande Chaumiere and multicolor viscosity etching with Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17, where Reddy later served as codirector. During this period he developed friendships with Brancusi and Giacometti. He studied sculpture in London with Henry Moore and in Italy with Marino Marini. Reddy taught at New York University, the Maryland Institute College of Art, Pratt Institute, and the University of Texas. When he moved to New York in 1976, he formed the Color Print Academy.
