Faith Ringgold

Faith Ringgold is an American artist, writer, and activist born in 1930 in Harlem, New York City. She is best known for her narrative quilts, which combine painting, quilting, and storytelling to explore themes of race, gender, and identity. Ringgold began her career as a painter in the 1950s, but it was not until the 1970s that she began to incorporate quilting into her work. Her most famous quilt, "Who's Afraid of Aunt Jemima?"
