Oil painting on canvas, Walter McGeough Bond (1790 - 1866) with his Son Edward Staples McGeough Bond (1842 - 1891) by Hugues Fourau (1803-1873), signed lower left 'Fourau'; lower right 'Paris 23 Fevrier/1848. A three-quarter-length portrait of Walter Bond, seated with his small son resting against his knee. Edward Staples MacGeough Bond was born on 7 January 1842.He was the son of Walter MacGeough Bond and Anne Smyth. He died on 12 January 1891 at age 49. Edward Staples MacGeough Bond gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Grenadier Guards Walter McGeough Bond was born on 14 February 1790. He was the son of Joshua McGeough and Anne Johnstone. A settlement for the marriage between him and Mary Isabella Joy was made on 19 January 1826. He married, secondly, Anne Smyth, daughter of Ralph Smyth and Anna Maria Staples, in 1830. Walter McGeough Bond was baptised with the name of Walter McGeough. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1811 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).He held the office of High Sheriff of County Armagh in 1819. He was a practising Barrister-at-Iaw. On 5 November 1824 his name was legally changed to Walter McGeough Bond by Royal Licence. The Argory, County Armagh (Accredited Museum)
