Strasbourg mythological tapestry fragment, c.1470-80 (metal thread, wool & silk)

Woven in metal thread, wools and silks, depicting to the left 'The Flight of the Lovers' and to the right 'Rest on the Flight and Theft of the Ring' from 'The Story of Busant', with the English Prince and the French princess on horseback, followed by their pages, the scroll inscribed 'de.brutiomer.dut.we.uver.scheide.aber ich bin.sin.in.grosser.freiden', the other side with the Prince and Princess resting, the Prince holding her key, the right side of the scene with the Prince chasing the buzzard, the scroll inscribed 'Ach.got.du.mit.diner.helffe..schin.dz.finerlin', the scenes divided by trees and framed by buildings, on a millefleurs ground, lacking guard borders, with several surface patches applied to the warp, especially to the left panel, and with some areas of reweaving, the reverse with two labels inscribed 'DINING ROOM' and 'OVER FIRE PLACE'
