He began manufacturing shotgun stocks and clothes hangers under simple handicraft conditions The successor, Max Richter, then built the current factory in 1913 and was already producing clothes hangers in large quantities The company was constantly expanded and production increased In 1972, the company was finally nationalized, but returned to family ownership in 1991 Today, the Max Richter clothes hanger factory with its 7 employees is the only manufacturer of wooden clothes hangers in Saxony A large proportion of the hangers are still exported today The manufactory only processes local beech wood from FSC-certified forestry operations, who are committed to ensuring sustainable forest use in Germany Many work steps are required to turn the raw boards into a beautifully shaped wooden coat hanger The first work step is cutting the parts to size, which are then stored in drying chambers The subsequent processing, assembling and shooting in of the hanger hooks, as well as the final varnishing of the coat hangers, are carried out exclusively by hand
