Right behind the U-shaped laboratories in the middle of the picture you can see the building of the reactor "Saphir" - in operation since 1957. On the left are the power and heat station, the exhaust stack and the heavy water reactor "Diorit" which is under construction. The design of the experimental reactors "Diorit" and "Saphir" was started in 1955 under the direction of Reaktor AG, which was transferred to the EIR (Eidgenoessisches Institut für Reaktorforschung) in 1960.
