Cover of Casabella, N. 566, March 1990, 20th Century, graphic, 31 x 28 cm
Whole artwork view. On a white background, stand out a dark grey headline above the table of contents, in black with red underlines, and a drawing by Hilding Ekelund, presented to the competition for the Posts and Telegraphs building in Helsinki; the project of the great Finnish functionalist architect, winner of the call in 1934, oversees a squared building, pencil drawn on yellow paper in a perspective view, with the silhouette of a man taking a photo with a tripod collaged just in front of the façade; the latter is a simple one, with large glazed openings on the ground floor, on which relies a scheme of four storey with continuous windows and a sixth floor with nothing but a thin balcony; this top storey does not have a development in length, but is only meant for the façade and the staircases, as one sees from the side of the building on the right flank of the drawing; the façade, overlooking a large empty street, is completed by two Finnish flags on the top left and a clock on the top right, while the awning over the ground floor carries the writings Post, telegraph, telephone in both Finnish and in Swedish: POSTI LENNATIN PUHELIN POST TELEGRAF TELEFON.
