Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Pavle holds candles during a lithurgy in Belgrade July 12. Patriarch Pavle, the leader of Serbia's Orthodox Christians, said on Saturday the opposition to [President Slobodan Milosevic] included good people who could run the country better - if only they ended their own infighting. Pavle also renewed his criticisms of NATO for bombing the Serbian people who, he said, were largely innocent of the crimes of their leaders. Nonetheless, he welcomed the presence of foreign peacekeeping troops in Kosovo and said he hoped they would help Serbs and Albanians to be reconciled in the province.
