Switzerland Bern Ptt Automatic Wake-Up Call (b/w photo)

In Bern, PTT offers the world's first fully automatic wake-up service. Here is the punching and transmitting system, recorded on 17 February 1966. FROM THE ORIGINALLEGEND: “The world's first fully automatic wake-up service, the invention of a Bernese, was recently set up in Bern: The subscriber calls 166. A friendly female voice answers: “On the dial, set the time you want to be woken, e.g. 0615.” The same request is repeated in English. Subsequently, the subscriber enters his own telephone number, e.g. 22 25 18, where the voice assures that the wake-up call will be executed. The data is punched onto paper tape by the alarm clock and then automatically processed.”
