Image description: WAR CRIMES "The main perpetrators of the Fosse Ardeatine, that is, the German generals Maeltzer and von Mackensen, tried in Rome by the Allied martial court. In the spring of 1944, following an attack, they had given orders for every German killed to be killed 10 Italian hostages The terrible death list included 320 victims, most of them innocent.
