Image description

Under Soraya's eyes. In the Santander arena, present the beautiful former Empress of Persia, Luis Dominguin, the number one of the Spanish matadores, ran the risk of being gored. During the final phase of the bullfight, called the hour of truth, the bullfighter slipped to the ground; his face immersed in the sand, the reddish muleta by his side, Dominguin remained perfectly still. He owed his salvation to his immobility and to the hesitation of the bull. Then the peones, waving their hoods, managed to drag him to another point in the arena and Dominguin was able to get up. Everything under the eyes of Soraya and thousands of spectators anxifying for the fate of the famous espada. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 31 August 1958.
