Alhambra, Entrance to the Generalife (Polo Courtyard)

TILT up, exterior, daylight. Entrance gate to the Generalife Palace. The entrance building is known as the Polo Courtyard or the Stable Courtyard, as this was the area used to dismount from horses. The symbolic key of the Alhambra above the ogive arch serves as a sign of a royal residence. The next courtyard leads to the entrance to the Courtyard of the Water Garden. The door lintel is decorated with a fine mosaic ataurique design in simple hues of black, green and blue on a white background. Alhambra was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
