The shelves behind him are lined with his beloved collection of science fiction magazines, 'Wonder Stories' and 'Amazing Stories'. Arthur was to become a leading science fiction writer, following a period of work in scientific research. The study is at Ballifants, the Clarke family's farm in Somerset, where Arthur grew up.
