Charles Lindbergh. Born February 4 1902 - August 26 1974. American aviator who achieved world wide fame by making the first nonstop flight from New York to Paris on May 20--21 1927. This was the first solo transatlantic flight. The airplane was a custom monoplane dubbed the Spirit of St. Louis, then name written on the plane. Ste start was from Roosevelt Field Long Island and after having flewn fo 33 ½ hours he landed at Le Bourget Aerodrome on saturday may 21 1927.
