Christie, with fellow British athletes Doug Walker and Gary Cadogan, was banned for two years by the sport's ruling body on August 21, 2000. The arbitration panel of the International Amateur Athletic Federation announced its decision after spending three days last week hearing evidence on the cases of all three, who had tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone.The trio failed dope tests in the space of four months in late 1998 and early 1999 but were subsequently cleared of doping by their national body UK Athletics.
