ISRAELI POLICE REMOVE A SETTLER FROM AREA OF BARUCH GOLDSTEIN'S GRAVE, 1999-12-29 (photo)

An Israeli riot policeman (R) and a Border Policeman physically remove an Israeli settler wearing his prayer shawl from the area around the grave of Baruch Goldstein, as the security forces tear down a shrine to the Jewish man who massacred 29 Palestinians while they prayed in a Hebron mosque in 1994. Police had to use force to restrain about 100 settlers from disrupting the work at the grave. The polce left the grave in tact but removed all the stone terrace and fountains which turned the grave into a shrine of pilgrimage for right-wing Jewish militants. JWH/FMS
