Jul 07, 1953 - Gang of eight Responsible for betting Coup.. Many Thousands of Pounds Involved: The attempted betting coup at the Bath Races last Thursday i which it is believed the horses were” switched” and the telephone cable to the course out by an ~ x ~ acetylene burner half and haour before the first race, is believed to have been carried out by a gang of eight men, including the ringlet der operating through minor agents in the key provincial towns. Detectives investigation the case are satisfied that the horse which won the race under the name of “Santo Amaro”. Both Horses are owned by Mr. Maurice Williams who the police would like to interview. There was much activity inside the grounds of the veterinary establishment at Epsom belonging to Mr. G.S. Forbes, where both horses are being kept under a police guard. Picture Shows: Which horse is which? .. Here are the two horses in the stables at Epsom.. The horse that run and won the race at Bath last Thursday is on the left- he ran under the name of” Frangasal”.. the other horse which is thorough to be the actual” Francasal” is on right.
