An elderly landless peasant peers through a steel gate at another demonstration outside the lobby of the Development Bank (BNDES) in Rio de Janeiro May 4. Bank officials closed the gate, leaving MST sympathizers camped out inside the bank grounds cut off from outside sympathizers. The MST and other landless movements have camped out at the bank and occupied others for three days in a row as part of their nationwide campaign against what they see as the government's marginal progress in addressing still huge income inequalities in Latin America's largest country.
