PRESIDENT CLINTON SPEAKS TO REPORTERS AT EREZ SUMMIT MEETING BUILDING AT EREZ CHECKPOINT, 1998-12-15 (photo)

U.S. President Bill Clinton speaks to reporters outside the Israeli Civil Administration headquarters building at the close of the three-way summit meeting held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat early December 15. Clinton was upbeat about the summit and said new steps were in place in order to proceed with the Wye River peace accord. He said, "I achieved what I came here to achieve." Clinton then went on to visit the West Bank town of Bethlehem, traditional birthplace of Jesus Christ. At right is U.S. secretary of state Madeleine Albright. JWH/AA
