A pro-Independence supporter, armed with a spear, mans a roadblock in Dili August 27 as a police truck passes by in a neigborhood which was the scene of yesterday's clash between pro-Independence supporters and pro-Indonesia militia which left five people dead and nine wounded. The United Nations has condemed the Indonesian police, who are soley responsible for security for next Monday's ballot on the future status of the territory, for doing too little to curb the activities of the pro-Jakarta militias who have been blamed for most of the violence.
