A group of protesters from Nature Warriors Association display a banner with the organization's name in Turkish in a protest against carrying oil through Bosphorus July 11 while sail past the ran-aground Maltese flag oil tanker Sea Salvia. Seasalvia was carrying 81,00 tonnes of crude oil ran aground off Bosphorus July 10. Maritime officials had tried to free the vessel which ran aground on a sandy spot without incurring heavy damage. Turkey authorities cite safety concerns as the main reason for opposing a plan to transport oil being developped in the Caspian Sea via the Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits which already handles around 50,000 ships a year.
