The Monks of Menilmontant or, The Saint-Simonien Capacities, 1820-30 (coloured engraving)

This engraving represents the order of Saint Simonien during the retreat in Menilmontant. The caption provides information regarding each member represented and their functions within the order. We can read some information about the official costume of the monks: blue redingotte, a leather black belt and a white blouse. The beard is also mandatory. Amongst the personalities we can identify The Supreme father; Prosper Enfantin on the right hand side with an halo, Saint-Armand Bazard (1791-1832) French socialist and Edmund Talabot (the caption mentioned his sudden death of the cholera in 17 july 1832).
