Henry Hoare of Mitcham Grove, Surrey (1750-1820)

Thomas Beach (Milton Abbas 1738 – Dorchester 1806). Oil painting on canvas, Henry Hoare, of Mitcham Grove, Surrey (1750 - 1820). A half-length length portrait of father of Lydia Elizabeth Hoare, Lady Acland (1786-1856), the wife of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Bt (1787-1871), a florid plump young man, half-length, in a painted oval, facing, head turned slightly to the right, gazing to the right. He has on a grey powdered wig and is wearing a brown coat and waistcoat and simple white stock. Or, possibly a cousin Henry of Beckenham (1744-85), known as Fat Harry, a friend of Garrick and described as a jolly liver. Buried at Teignmouth.
