The original painting, oil on panel, 168 x 112 cm, commissioned for the high altar in the Santissima Annunziata, Florence, 1508 is now in the Louvre, Paris. St Anne sits serenely in a landscape with her daughter, the Virgin Mary, sitting on her mother's lap whilst stretching towards her son, the Christ Child, who grasps a sacrificial lamb on the right.
