Mourners of the victims of the crash of TWA flight 800 embrace as they meet before a gathering and memorial service for the families and friends of the victims of the crash at Smith Point Park in Shirley, New York, July 17, the two year anniversary of the disaster. All 230 passengers and crew members aboard the 747 jumbo jet perished July 17, 1996 when the Paris bound jet crashed into the waters off the south shore of Long Island, New York shortly after taking off from New York's JFK Airport. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Smith Point Park is the closest land point to the site of the crash. MS/CLH/
