U.S. Colonel Paul Brygider, (R) from Stoudsburg, Penn., commander of the 26th Marines Expeditionary Unit, bids farewell to young earthquake survivor, four-year-old Turkish girl Selvan Afacan, as she wears his cap at a tent city in the quake-hit town of Izmit, 90kms east of Istanbul, September 9. U.S. Marines handed over to Turkish authorities a tented city which they built for the quake survivors in Izmit. U.S. Marines arrived in Izmit two weeks ago to help the quake survivors, following the deadly earthquake on August 17 which killed more than 15,000 people and left 600,000 homeless. FS/KM
