The marines handed over to Turkish authorities a tent city which they built for the quake survivors in Izmit. U.S. Marines aboard the U.S. helicopter ship Kearsarge arrived in Izmit two weeks ago to help the quake survivors, following the deadly earthquake on August 17 which measured 7.4 and killed more than 15,000 people and left 600,000 homeless.
