An ultra-orthodox Jewish youth watches as another dips a cage containing various kitchen utensils in a large vat of boiling water on the streets in the Mea Shearin religious negihborhood March 30 in preparations for the high holiday of Passover which begins Thursday at sundown. Passover commemorates the Jews flight from Egypt in the reign of the Pharoahs, and religious Jewish households must remove all traces of leavening before the holiday starts.
