Some of the 122 passengers who had departed and then returned on a Portuguese TAP Airbus A-340, originally en route from Lisbon to JFK airport in New York, wait for buses after their plane was forced to return to Lisbon September 13, 2001. The Airbus, one of the first transatlantic flights from Europe since the United States reopened its airspace to traffic, turned back to Lisbon on Thursday, the airline TAP-Air Portugal said. The airline told Reuters TAP flight 1315 was returning after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration had ordered all planes without U.S. registration to return to their points of origin.
