TERRORIST SUSPECT HAD RESERVATIONS AT HOTEL NEAR SPACE NEEDLE, 1999-12-18 (photo)

Federal officials say the 28-year-old male Algerian terrorist suspect who was caught trying to evade U.S. Customs officials in Port Angeles, Washington while driving a car containing 200 lbs. of nitro glycerine powder and four digital detonation devices had reservations to stay at this Best Western Loyal Inn hotel near the Space Needle in Seattle during the millennium week. The suspect, who is being held on charges of misrepresentation, was brought before a Federal judge in Seattle on December 17. The French-speaking suspect was caught with a Canadian passport and two false Quebec drivers licenses while he was taking a car ferry from Victoria, B.C. to Port Angeles. apb/Photo by Anthony P.
