A Small-scale Filipino miner Felix Mago, 37, emerges after diving from a narrow well in his search for gold in a community of Casalugan, Paracale town in Bicol province south of Manila. A popular mining method in Paracale -- called the "compressor" -- involves boring huge holes up to 30 ft (10 metres) deep into the ground and pouring water into them to enable masked divers to go down to the bedrock where layers of gold-bearing sand can be found. The divers are equipped with tubes through which they breathe air pumped by a compressor and stay under water for five hours. Picture taken April 13.
