Tomb of Qar (photo)

The tomb of Qar, numbered G 7101 in the Eastern Cemetery, lies to the west of the tomb of Idu, G 7102, and in the north of the entire Eastern Cemetery with its famous and prestigious tombs of the royal family of the Fourth Dynasty, e.g., the mastaba of prince Kawab, G 7110-7120, the tomb of Meresankh III, G 7530, and many other important tombs. A large false door occupies the western wall of Qar’s offering chamber, which is located to the west of the Statue Chamber. The inscription on the false door is written in horizontal and vertical hieroglyphic lines; it reads: “An offering which the king gives and Anubis upon his hill, foremost of the divine booth, an invocation offering (of bread and beer) for the king’s letter scribe Qar, an invocation offering (bread and beer) for the king’s letter scribe in the presence, the sab official, overseer of the scribes of all the works, Qar, well provided before Osiris, the king’s letter scribe in the presence, sab official, overseer of the scribes, Qar, the well provided Qar, thousands bread, beer, linen, cattle, food requirements, well provided before the great god, king’s letter scribe in the presence, who acquired offerings, and who attained a well provided state, Qar.
