A half-length portrait of an elderly woman, facing, gazing at the spectator.wearing a lace bonnet decorated with grey satin bows, and a red shawl, with multicoloured edging. Inscription on back. Date 1840. The Halliwells were relations of the Greens through Mary Lycett, Frank Green's mother. Canvas stamped 'Geo. Rowney and Co, 51 Rathbone Place, London' Label reading 'J C Grundy, Carver Gilder, Printseller to the Queen, 4 Exchange St, Manchester. Inscription on back giving artist and date.
