Schwyz Hans Brandenberger “Defense Will”, 1941 (b/w photo)

The artist Hans Brandenberger became famous with the soldier monument “Wehrbereitschaft” at the Swiss national exhibition in 1939. The statue, often with the work title “Wehrwille”, consisted of plaster and is swollen today. A bronze copy, a casting of the original, was installed here in Schwyz on 25 July 1941 by the artist himself next to the Federal Letter Museum. Here Hans Brandenberger processes the individual cast parts together. The sculpture was donated to the archive in Schwyz by the Swiss abroad on the occasion of the 650th anniversary celebration.
