On August 1, 1941, young men on bicycles transported a torch that was lit on the Ruetli in the morning along Lake Zurich near Waedenswil to Zurich. Torchbearers carry the fire for the 650th anniversary of Switzerland to all parts of the country, where the traditional beacons are lit.
