Image description

A captive balloon is supplied to the balloon hall Beundenfeld in Bern, undated recording. On 25 July 1900, 100 men, 66 horses and 14 carriages entered the first airship RS in Bern. In Beundenfeld, Berne, the city of Berne provided free building space for a balloon hall and the like. On August 3, 1900, a balloon rose above the parade ground for the first time on a rope. With the advent of military motorized aviation, the “Balloonists” had reached the peak of their game; from 1914, they provided the air force with the watch and operating crew.
