Image description

The crash of a C-47 Dakota military aircraft of the US Air Force on 7 March 1952 on the Guggig Glacier in the Jungfrau region of the Bernese Oberland claimed eight lives. A reconnaissance patrol goes to the wreck on the glacier on March 8 and searches the area in vain for survivors. Late in the evening, the reconnaissance patrol returns with, from left to right, the mountain guides Karl Schlunegger and Karl Graf, slope patrol Fritz Graf and mountain guide Oskar Gertsch to the station on Kleine Scheidegg.
